The swim starts from the south-west side of Lake Gallo of Livigno, next to T1.
The swim fraction will take place in the beautiful and crystal-clear waters of Lake Alpino del Gallo. The swim route will be one counterclockwise lap, indicated by two buoys.
One 96 km long lap with about 2600m of elevation gain, crossing into Switzerland as well.
The bike fraction starts from Livigno at 1815m asl, and after about 13 km of flat roads, athletes will cross the border with Switzerland through the fascinating Gallo Tunnel to take on the Fuorn Pass (2149m).
A long and magnificent descent will take athletes to Val Muster (1375m asl) where the climb to the Stelvio Pass starts (second highest past in Europe at 2757m asl) via the Swiss side of the Umbrail Pass.
Once at the summit, athletes will then descend to Bormio and head on to Isolaccia to climb the Foscagno Pass (2291m asl) to arrive at Trepalle di Livigno in Via del Pont where T2 will be (2030m asl).
The first 9km follow a beautiful trail (first 3.5km on tarmac) almost completely downhill until the bike path of Livigno.
From this point onward athletes will run 2 laps (of 5.5 km each) on the famous and completely flat cycling path of Livigno.
